Internationally known performance artist Marina Abramovic believes that part of the artist's job is to think about death and prepare for it, which is why her production The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic begins with her own funeral.

Arcane Archetypes will center on the Major Arcana of the Tarot and stem from Stanton’s exploration of its various symbolism, imagery and mysticism.
Stanton’s paintings connect old world traditions and visuals with modern technology and ideals to communicate universal tenets. Arcane Archetypes integrates Stanton’s quintessential images and pervading themes, in his usual fanfare of color and filigree, to interpret the esoteric nature of the Tarot. Conducive to his process of layering oil paint with ornate silkscreen compositions, this body of work offers an examination of the mystical layers that form the principles of the Tarot and its divine and practical application throughout history. Embarking on the age-old tradition of the Tarot allows for a reinterpretation of a timeless study while adapting its essence to reevaluat... less

Aaron Williams tends to work with cheap, fallible materials like book pages and posters, interested in the populist, stock imagery that has very little physical value but maintains great cultural and emotional currency. While examining the differences between a hand-made mark and a photographic image ( particularly one that has the popular appeal of a music or film star ) they become abstracted images: "ideas of portrait" rather than an actual portrait.
In this sense a famous picture of the Alps exists as an idea of a landscape rather than a singular, personal record of an experience. This critical distance allows the artist to move more freely in manipulating the imagery and also opens up questions and unexpected visual directions in the studio.
Working at the intersection between image and material; the space between the emotive capacity of the image and the physical reality of the paper and printing process, Williams questions the validity and reality of the images he works with, particularly in light of ... less

"Falling lapsing into overwhelming hallucinatory - colour - spreading flowing bleeding staining, soaking merging into both the dream and the nightmare.
The pinks, the reds, the feminine threaten to engulf you -- slipping over the white lines, off the white walls.
In paintings, fabric dyes on raw linen and small ceramic works, these ideas associated with chromophobia, the feminine and of generally what is good taste versus the garish, the clashing, and the `made-up` are explored."- Saira McLaren less

NEW YORK, NY (May 25th, 2013) –When most of us hear the mention of the word "zombie", it brings up images from George Romero's "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" movies, the AMC television series, “THE WALKING DEAD”, and both Max Brooks', "Zombie Survival Guide" and "World War Z". Contemporary society has become obsessed with this dead, cannibalistic phenomenon. Yet the earliest appearances of zombies date back to African and Caribbean religious mythologies. Some argue even earlier manifestations can be found in the “Epic of Gilgamesh” and “New Testament Book of Daniel”. It wasn’t until the early 20th century, that zombies first made their debut in American popular culture. From then onward, the horror paradigm evolved from bewitched, voodooed creatures, to the decaying undead with a taste for human flesh.
In the past few years, the images of the walking dead have appeared in numerous ad campaigns, countless video games, and organized "... less

Encompassing the artist’s illustrations from 2000-2006, this solo exhibition reveals Koenig to be a philosopher of art, culture, and spirituality. In this particular body of work, Hanz explores the depths of the human psyche through runic and astrological symbols, offering compelling meditations on the the human spirit.
Drawing on his years working as a clairvoyant in various parts of the world, Hanz uses his interactions with others as inspiration for his work. Often he creates pieces based on the prophetic readings of others, generating imagery that interprets their personal journey through visual form.
We invite you to immerse yourself in Hanz’s world for a night- to surround yourself with the celestial and otherworldy. Come experience the strange and psychedelic and awaken your inner self through the meticulous and hallucinatory drawings of a modern oracle.
