Bio
My paintings are in public and private collections throughout the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, England, and the Netherlands including the collections of the Houston Museum of Art, Tulane University, the Blaffer Foundation, and the Hawaii State Foundation for Culture and the Arts.
Juried and Invitational Exhibits include four Indiana Artist's Shows, Illinois Artist's Annual at the Chicago Art Institute, two Schaefer Portrait Challenges, Bailey House 'Witness to Time' exhibit, and numerous Art Maui Exhibitions.
I was formally introduced to the concept of two dimensional design by Loren Dunlap at John Herron Art Institute. I later worked with Helen Frankenthaler among others at Tulane University's Sophie Newcomb in New Orleans. I was selected to work on the Owenite restoration project in New Harmony, Indiana and was a teaching advisor for the Blaffer Foundation Roofless Church Art Project that followed.
I came to Maui by accident in 1978 and have made the island my home ever since. Although I handle most of my own business affairs, I have been represented by Lynn Shue at the Village Gallery in Lahaina, Maui for a dozen years or so.
I presently have two offbeat novels full of magical realism, mystery, and murder in release - 'Another Christmas Tale' and 'Einstein's Road Trip' , both available in paperback or ebook form on my web site at www.brinnerART.com/bigoscar. Excerpts can be read there. Check it out when your time allows.
